Privacy policy

We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who we are

Lightning Fast Plumbing and Electrical (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/203354/07, 15 10th Avenue, Fish Hoek, Cape Town. We are the “responsible party” for the personal information described here.

What we collect

When you contact us by our contact form, WhatsApp, phone or email, we collect what you give us: your name, phone number, suburb, your message, and, if you choose to add them, your email address and whether you're a homeowner, agent, body corporate or business. If you send photos on WhatsApp, we keep those with your enquiry.

When we do work for you, we also keep the property address, access details, our inspection and job reports (including photos taken on site in our own app), quotes and invoices.

When you use this website, and only if you tap “Accept” on the cookie bar, Google Analytics records how the site is used: which pages are visited, how people arrived, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location such as the city. If you tap “No thanks”, no analytics cookies are set.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote, book and do the work, and invoice you.
• To issue compliance certificates and keep the records the law requires.
• To improve this website, using analytics only if you have accepted it.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for unrelated marketing.

Who we share it with

Only the people and services needed to do what you asked:

• Our own team, and the specialist partners who carry out part of a job for you, such as a registered electrician, gas technician or beetle inspector.
• Estate agents, rental agents, conveyancers, landlords or insurers, where the job is being done for them or with them.
• The services we use to run the business, such as our email and website hosting, WhatsApp and Google Analytics. Some of these may store information outside South Africa, and we only use providers that protect it to a standard POPIA accepts.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that don't lead to work for up to 12 months. Job records, certificates, quotes and invoices are kept for as long as the law requires, usually five years.

How we protect it

Your information is stored on password-protected systems, and only people who need it to do their work can see it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct anything that's wrong;
• delete it, where we're not required by law to keep it;
• stop using it for a particular purpose.

You can also withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time, using the button below. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

This website only uses analytics cookies, and only if you accept them. We don't use advertising cookies. Your choice is remembered on your device so we don't ask every time.
